Teddy Breedlove is a textile artist based in New York City, with a background in Furniture and Surface Design from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD, 2021).
His practice explores textiles as an “Alternative Canvas,” creating statement pieces that blur the lines between art and design.
Breedlove is captivated by the dynamic relationship between self and space, reflecting on how our environments shape us and reflect our inner lives. Whether it's the familiar corners of a home, a public park, or the vibrancy of an urban street, he perceives spaces as active participants in our emotional and psychological experiences. Every object we place, every color we choose, and every pattern we create leaves an imprint, and in turn, these environments influence our thoughts, behaviors, and sense of identity. In his work, he explores this continuous dialogue between space and self, reflecting on how we shape our surroundings and how those surroundings, in return, shape us.
Breedlove's material choices are carefully curated, responsibly sourcing the highest quality deadstock leathers and textiles. The tactile nature of fabric invites instinctive, organic creation, where pieces are shaped more by process than by pre-planned design. This intuitive approach allows for a raw, honest kind of storytelling through texture, layering, and form.
Through his work, Breedlove seeks to envision pieces that not only adorn a space but also spark conversation and evoke emotion, transforming everyday objects into elements of personal expression
